This is the first phase of a comprehensive master plan proposing a complete urban block with private internal courtyards and a tree lined lane linking Furze Green and Bow Common Lane located in Bow, East London. This phase incorporates apartments and ground floor commercial uses facing Bow Common Lane and Devons Road with family homes facing Furze Green.
The apartment building is made up of two clearly defined forms, an L-shaped brick clad block establishing a strong, yet restrained corner to Devons Road and Bow Common Lane and a taller terracotta clad block providing a counterpoint to Furze Green.
The brick façades include large openings with deep set reveals, further articulated by exposed lintels which express the function and constructional method of the scheme.
The taller block is clad in Iron Grey terracotta tiles, with a chequerboard pattern of plain and textured tiles. This element forms a focal point for the scheme.
