The first phase in the RMA masterplanned redevelopment of the until recently neglected Ladywood area of Birmingham adjacent to the canals which run through the Brindley Quarter.
Part refurbishment of an existing industrial warehouse building and part new build. The mill building is punctuated at either end by modern ‘book-end’ blocks with a 6-storey tower at one end addressing the public square at its base and the views over the canal. An 18-metre high and 70-metre long central glazed courtyard is carved out of the mill building and unifies the three blocks dealing with the complexity of working with new and old buildings at their different levels.
